The War for Independence, also known as the Revolutionary War, was a war between the British and America's thirteen colonies. Americans were fighting for their independence from the British Government. The War was fought from 1775 to 1781. Of course, weapons are a very important part of any war. The main weapons of the Revolutionary War were the MUSKET, PISTOL, CANNON and SABER.
THE MOST COMMONLY USED WEAPON WAS THE MUSKET. THE MUSKET WAS ABOUT THE SIZE OF A RIFLE.
THE MUSKET HAD VERY POOR AIM. THE MUSKET WAS A REAL PAIN IN BATTLE. FIRST OF ALL, IT
COULD NOT HIT ANYTHING AND IT TOOK FOREVER TO LOAD. IT TOOK ABOUT ONE AND HALF MINUTES TO LOAD FOR ONE SHOT.
ANOTHER WEAPON IS THE PISTOL. THE PISTOL WAS MOSTLY USED AS A PERSONAL WEAPON.
PISTOLS ARE ABOUT THE SIZE OF A BANANA. LIKE THE MUSKET, PISTOLS HAD VERY POOR
THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON WAS PROBABLY THE CANNON. THE CANNON COULD EASILY BE PULLED BY
HORSES. THE CANNON BALL WEIGHED ABOUT SIX POUNDS. CANNONS WERE USED IN THE BATTLE FIELDS AND ON SHIPS.
THE SABER IS A HEAVY CURVED SWORD WITH A SHARP EDGE. OFFICERS AND GENERALS CARRIED SABERS. THESE WERE USED TO DIRECT TROOPS IN LAND BATTLES.
